Thanksgiving is all about a time to be grateful for what you have. What is there to be thankful for? There are many things to be thankful for; life being one of them! Nonprofit Quarterly discusses the importance of the phrase “thank you.” We say it daily. When someone holds a door for us, when we sneeze and someone says, “Bless you,” when someone compliments us, we say thank you in return the kind action. Is there ever a time where we have analyzed the thanks we’re giving to someone for whatever reason it may be? Nonprofit Quarterly argues,“gratitude has historically been dismissed as simple, obvious, and unworthy of serious attention” (Hoffman). Ironically, the findings of a study has shown that showing gratitude often shows a correlation with people having “stronger immune systems, lower blood pressure, higher levels of positive emotions, and many more beneficial effects. The Nonprofit Times discuss the event Giving Tuesday. Because Black Friday and Cyber Monday cause numerous people to shop, this new event, Giving Tuesday, should encourage many to give whether it be in the form of service or donations. Imagine all the people who shopped on Black Friday and Cyber Monday; now imagine all of those people giving back. Imagine that affect on the world and in people’s lives!
